Home to Hönö

On the way to Hönö, the island

Photo taken in Sweden, not where my home is, but where it smells familiar from salt and where the seagulls sound like seagulls should, where you have to watch your food or it will get stolen from the plate by one of the hungry ones...

Resting in the sun

Cats resting in the sun. If you look carefully you'll see that there is a buoy under the bench, and sure enough, this is taken by the sea. It's no wonder the cats picked the spot they did - it is nice and warm in the sun, it is peaceful, and there is, potentially, a chance of getting some fish.

Clever thinking...
There is something about not just the sea but everything that happens around, and fact is, when I see this photo with the cats, I can smell the fish, the salt in the air, the sunshine, there is something so incredibly real about it, as if I was just there and the smell still lingers in my nose.

Imagination is a wonderful thing.

Nature awakening

Springtime Parklife

Spring is here and quickly moving in to summer, it is amazing to see how nature comes back to life after hibernating, I love it when the crocuses are starting to show their heads and the first leaves are starting to show on the branches.

There is something absolutely magical about it and yet it happens every year, again and again - it is wonderful to see. I just wish I'd do what I say every year and actually go out and enjoy - however every year when spring comes there is just too much to do, somehow and I seem to forget. Now I have started to leave the camera out because when I do I seem to remember that on a sunny day it is a good thing to go out into nature and photograph.

And so another day dawns

And orange sun rising over the rooftops

Another day dawns and the sun, yet again, comes up and we start yet again, a new day. The same as every day - and yet, every day is different...

They say that lighter photos attract the eye more but there is something about this one,  the colour of the sun, and the sharp edges, and the black silhouettes from the roof tops, together with, if you look carefully, the bird sitting on the antenna that makes me like it Originally a "fail", I meant to take the photo but had my settings a little bit TOO extreme, I am quite pleased with it. There is no photoshop, there is no other editing, it is just completely like it was. Maybe later I will do an edited version of the photo, but that's for then...

This photo is available in various formats on EyeEm, click on the photo to get to the market place and check out the alternatives if you are interested.

Preparing for a new season

I was out for a walk with my camera when I snapped this. I have always been fascinated with everything that grows - nature is so amazing and the patterns in nature are gorgeous. I especially like this photo which is old flowers looking almost like clouds, I love how they almost look like a painting - nature is fantastic!

December Fishing tour

Turkish fishermen

There isn't just fishing going on in in US and France. It happens everywhere - also in Turkey - and as always I end up down by the water...
A chilly day in December I snapped this...
I am especially happy with the fishing rod following the line of the bridge , as if that was an extra bridge, an extra line.  There was something with the light this day, and I very much enjoy the shadows.

This photo and other are for sale, if you click on the photo you will get to the EyeEm market space where the photos can be bought - for various use, and in various sizes - for different price.

Catching anything?

Any sharks out there?

Every time I get to California I try and get to the beach, to smell the ocean and soak in the atmosphere, get new energy. I don't sunbathe and I don't really go into the water either - but I come for the sea, the ocean.

Somehow I often end up in Santa Cruz - a city I at first glance thought was a bit tacky but then fell in love with.

I also have a secret dream that one day this is where I will see my first real big shark, preferably a Great White - not close to the beach, of course, but a bit further out. I realise chances are very slim, it is not their hunting grounds and even though they exist in the Pacific and are spotted they are normally much further out and in areas where there isn't that much disturbance - and I wouldn't see them.

Last time I was in Santa Cruz I did however joke about it - and learnt from one of the locals that at times you CAN actually see them, much further out, breaching the surface, catching a seal.

Needless to say I spent a lot of my time last time staring out into the water. Because who knows, maybe if I looked long enough.

The fishermen were completely unmoved by my excitement.

This and the majority of the photos on this blog are for sale, click on the photo to get to EyeEm market place.
